App Tree

Do NOT hire App Tree, Inc. Whatever Ed App says he will do is a lie. After Ed App takes your money, he will do less than half the job he agreed to. Then they will drive away, leaving you to call him numerous times with no response, wondering if he will ever return to finish the job he was paid for. Ask yourself, is this the type of contractor you want to do business with? Do you have the time and money and energy to waste chasing after a low-life like this? Do you want to go through the hassle of taking him to small claims court, etc? Avoid at all costs!

I recently hired App Tree to remove 3 trees and trim 4 others on my property. I paid $2200 for this service. While I did not get quotes from other companies, I know neighbors paid in the range of $1000 per removal and about $250 per trim. When Zach App stopped by my house (Tuesday) and we negotiated this price, I had to give them a shot. Initially they were supposed to show up the following morning (Wed) to do the work... and then the morning after that (Thurs). After an angry phone call at 4pm on Thursday, Ed and his team showed up and removed one tree. I was a little worried while they removed the tree because they did not use a crane and these trees were very close to my house, the powerlines and directly above my neighbors vinyl fence. I aired my concerns to Ed and Zach and they returned first thing on Monday morning and completed the job in the pouring rain. I have to give them all the credit in the world here, Ed and Zach gave me their word that they would be her on Monday morning and he kept his word despite serious downpours. I think they deserve a 3.5 here but Yelp won't allow for it. Overall, for the price I think they surpassed my expectations. If Ed was to improve on his scheduling, I would have given a 4-5. Also, I think his son Zach is a great addition to his company. He stood by everything he said and was very reliable, responsive and a pleasure to work with. There is definitely some room for improvement here but if you have them write a specific day and time for your service on your contract I think it will help with their scheduling issues.

This crook promised me $1500 job would be completed by 30 days after signing

an agreement on Feb 6th. It is now May 13th, and job is about 10% completed.

Multiple phone calls not returned. He has promised to show up and complete at least 4 separate times, and no-showed each time with no phone call or explanation. Simply a crook, avoid at all costs.

Edward App is about as dishonest as they come. Do not

hire his company unless 1) you want to pay an outrageous price, 2) you want to

take on the liability if one of his workers gets hurt on the job, and 3) you want to

pay him for unnecessary services. He pays his workers under the table so they

won't be covered under workers' comp and if they get hurt on your property, you

will be liable. He doesn't even use the most basic safety precautions so this is a

distinct possibility. While removing trees on my neighbor's property, he had a crane

blocking the street with no police detail, workers were unsupervised, and his crew

caused substantial damage to my property. He is also notorious for talking people

into removing "dangerous" trees when they could just be trimmed. He gives

contractors a bad name.
