Overall

The Eye Institute offers thorough and precise care. I have been going there for several years, and never felt not welcomed or intrusive asking questions or for help. Patient requests for results are treated with courtesy and respectively honored in short time periods. Dr. Brockman is proficient, and thorough in his examinations; he treats his patients in manner without condescension. Staff is very nice also.

Glaucoma
Although glaucoma cannot usually be cured, it can be controlled. The Eye Institute’s team of highly trained ophthalmologists, including our glaucoma specialist with advanced training. They are successfully treating glaucoma with the latest techniques. Medications in the forms of eye drops and pills, as well as laser treatment and advanced surgical procedures, are proven to be effective treatments against glaucoma.
Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologists have long cautioned against purchasing toys that pose a danger to children’s eyes. This year we’re adding digital devices to our usual list of BB guns, Nerf guns, and slingshots. That’s because evidence is mounting that too much screen time and not enough time outside may be behind the recent rise in nearsightedness in children. We know reducing screen time has been especially challenging for parents during the pandemic. To help, the American Academy of Ophthalmology released a screen-free holiday gift guide focused on healthy kids and healthy eyes.

Laser Eye Surgery
LASIK surgery is a procedure that utilizes a laser to reshape the cornea (the windshield to the eye) to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It is important for patients to understand that no eye surgical procedure is risk-free. Over 30 years of experience however, have indicated a high level of both safety and efficacy associated with both LASIK and PRK.
Cataracts
A cataract is a clouding or opacification of the lens of the eye. The lens is located directly behind the pupil and is mandatory for the correct focusing of images onto the retina. As the lens becomes cloudy, vision diminishes and there is often a progressive decrease in one’s ability to see things clearly.
Cataract Surgery
As cataracts develop it is often possible to change one’s glasses prescription to reacquire clear vision but eventually if the cataract becomes dense enough, it is not possible to correct by changing the prescription. Cataract surgery may become the only way to re-establish clear vision. Certain diseases such as diabetes are associated with an increased incidence of cataracts.

Following his medical education, Dr. Peters completed an Internal Medicine Internship at The University of Oklahoma’s School of Medicine, followed by a rigorous three-year residency program in ophthalmology at The Dean McGee Eye Institute. Recognized for his exceptional skills and dedication, he was invited to continue his career at The Dean McGee Eye Institute as an Associate Clinical Professor.

Blepharoplasty
