Total Knee Replacement almost 8 years ago and it's been flawless.

I had a total knee replacement nearly 8 years ago and it was flawless and it is going strong with no complication and it feels amazing. Dr. LaButti is very skilled and I could not possibly rate him higher!

Fibromyalgia
I just wanted to share ANOTHER excellent experience with doc. Look... I had my left knee replacement done 5 years ago and have excellent flexibility but I unfortunately have severe fibromyalgia and it complicates things for me. I have never met a doctor like Dr. LaButti. I remember my first meeting I was so unsure because he was SO SURE. If that even makes sense. I was constantly falling. I still have problems.. but not from my new knee...but if not for doc and my surgery I know I'd still be falling. I was 47 when I had to have it replaced and I had to make the tough decision after falling in a empty parking garage at work and my phone going under my truck and pretty much being "stranded ". I went in to see him last week and I can say this... I COMPLETELY trust what he tells me and the advice he gives me. Even when it isn't what I want to hear. (My own fears and phobias) he explains things to me so I understand them, and it means everything... especially when a person is hurting and or frustrated it is ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! I have put off my other knee replacement because I just want to keep it as long as I can cause I'm still so young and it's my "get out of the tub knee". But... this is the year. If you are a new patient or considering Dr. LaButti he is honestly there for you for the long haul... even 5 years later. He is sooooo busy... we all know he is... but he NEVER EVER makes you feel like he has anything else to do once he comes in that little office and sits on his stool. Thank you Doc... I truly... appreciated your kindness and patience last week. You definitely made me feel more confident about our game plan!!

Every effort will be made to help reduce the amount of blood lost during surgery. To cut down on bleeding your blood pressure is lowered, and cut blood vessels are cauterized. Patients with a hemoglobin greater than 13 usually do not require a blood transfusion. If a patient does require a transfusion, community donated blood is used. Studies have shown many units of autologous blood will go unused and require disposal. This is primarily because blood can only be stored for 42 days from collection. It can be stored frozen up to a year, but this triples the costs and will only be done over very special circumstances. Autodonating and storage of blood is not covered by many insurance carriers, and usually will have to be paid out of pocket by the patient. Additionally, community blood is screened rigorously and carefully for infectious diseases to ensure your safety.

Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan: X-rays lasting a fraction of a second are passed through the hip/knee at different angles, and analyzed by a computer. This produces a series of clear cross-sectional images of the hip/knee tissues on a computer screen. CT scan images show soft tissues such as ligaments or muscles more clearly than conventional x-rays. The computer can combine individual images to give a three-dimensional view of the knee or hip.

Arthroscopy: This procedure uses a small, lighted tube (arthroscope) that has been inserted into the joint through a small incision in the knee. Images of the inside of the joints are projected onto a television screen.
