Effective January 14, 2015, the Michigan Legislature enacted an amendment to the law regarding the setting aside of certain convictions, making it easier to have those convictions taken off a person’s criminal record. The amendment now allows persons convicted of one felony or not more than two misdemeanors (and subject to specific exceptions as enumerated under the revised Act) after a period of five years has passed since the conviction to seek an expungement.
After passing the bar exam in 1987, he joined OAS and became a partner in 1994. His primary focus is on the representation of self-insured corporations in all matters including personal injury defense, workers compensation claims, commercial litigation, and consulting. He practices in both Michigan and in Ohio, and has extensive trial experience.

Mike attended University of Detroit School of Law, where he authored two articles in University of Detroit Law Review on employment discrimination and product liability. For one year, he was Executive Editor in charge of articles written by outside authors for University of Detroit Law Review. He graduated cum laude in 1991. He went on to pass the Michigan bar exam in 1991, and the Ohio bar exam in 1992.
After attending Michigan State University College of Law, Mr. Alberts passed the bar exam in 1976 and joined the law firm that year. He became a partner with the firm in 1980. He has been trying litigated matters since 1977 and performs all aspects of claims and pretrial preparations including investigations, negotiations, and discovery. His areas of expertise include premises liability, insurance issues, construction liability, as well as product liability and commercial litigation. He has tried a wide variety of cases involving contract matters, auto accidents, slip and falls, food poisoning, real estate disputes, employment discrimination, product liability, and construction accidents.

Since joining Ogne, Alberts, & Stuart, P.C. in 2015, he has focused on personal injury defense, premises liability and asbestos litigation defense. He has extensive litigation experience having appeared in over 70 courts throughout the state of Michigan. Jared is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending his time golfing, boating, and being outdoors.

Eminent Domain
We represent the private sector, corporations, LLCs, financial institutions and others in buying, selling, and leasing real and personal property. This includes purchase offers, land contracts, closings, environmental issues and appeals. Other services include title research, tax assessments and deeds. We also litigate real estate claims, including land contract forfeiture, mortgage foreclosure, construction liens, evictions, landlord tenant disputes, neighborhood association disputes, eminent domain and adverse possession.

Property Damage
The primary focus of our practice is defending insured individuals, companies, and self-insureds in state, federal and appellate courts in matters including automobile accidents, tort, bad faith, subrogation, property and casualty losses, premises liability, slip and fall, liquor liability, food poisoning, construction accidents, aircraft and marine property damage, and self-insured and insufficient coverage. We also offer coverage analysis and represent insurance companies and policy holders in declaratory actions – judgments which declare the rights, duties or obligations of parties in a dispute.
While attending law school, he was a law clerk at Ogne, Alberts & Stuart, and remained as an attorney after passing the bar exam in 1984. He became a partner in 1994. His expertise is personal injury defense and environmental law. In 2009, he received a no-cause verdict on a million dollar offer.
In law school, Harrison volunteered as a legal aid for a senior citizens’ clinic, and later worked in private practice for two smaller insurance defense firms. Harrison joined Ogne, Alberts & Stuart in April, 1995, and became a partner in 2000. He is in charge of general practice matters for the firm, and his emphasis is on business law, estate planning, probate, family law, criminal law, and sports law.
Wills
We offer personal planning services for individuals and families including wills, powers of attorney (medical and financial), estate planning, and traditional and living trusts. We also handle estate resolution including probate litigation, will contests, conservator and guardian proceedings, title transfers, trust administration and elder law.
We represent clients in debt collection/subrogation litigation and garnishment cases arising from contractual agreements, property damage and product liability claims.
