Discovery Corner Academy

I wish there were more than 5 stars I could award!!! Discovery Corner Academy is not just a "child care" facility, they are a family of wonderful gals that take care of your child's needs from start to finish. Their staff have the warmest personalities and are engaged with my children from the moment they walk in the door. Everyone has a calm, loving nature to them and it's a breath of fresh air to see a group of people who love what they do so much! I have honestly never seen my kids happier than in the care of this staff!

To boot, they have an excellent curriculum model they follow that truly engages students with the learning process. My sons are learning and retaining more than they ever have before, and it's all done through playful models that don't even feel like "work". Teachers rotate their classes through different rooms throughout the day to keep the environment interesting and keep the kids engaged with what they're doing. It's such a smart practice and my kids LOVE going to each of the different rooms every day!

Honestly, I have toured and had my kids enrolled in a number of other local facilities, but none of them compare to the care and guidance we have received at Discovery Corner Academy!! I am proud to be a part of the DCA family and encourage anyone and everyone to tour their amazing facility!

My son has been going to Discovery for the past 3 months and we love it! Ms. Loretta and her staff are very warm and caring. My son was enrolled at a different program for a few months and we were so disappointed that the teachers were just babysitters. At Discovery, the teachers take personal interest in the growth and development of your child. Thanks to Ms. Connie my son has learnt to play chess. They have a good mix of academics, play and learning activities. My son was so excited about all the fun summer events. Their schedule is flexible and they are open all year round which is great for working parents. I highly recommend Discovery to anyone looking for childcare. We know families that went here more than 10 years ago and have nothing but good things to say about their experiences. Thank you Ladies for all the love, warmth and affection.

We are thrilled to have found DCA for our daughter two years ago. She started in the preschool program and has recently completed the kindergarten program. Leaving the school is bittersweet. As a lower elementary teacher myself I know that this is a special place. All of the teachers, as well as the director, knew and truly cared about my child. The education she received was stellar. The class sizes are small which enables the teachers to get to know each child individually. Miss Richelle does guided reading in the kindergarten program. That is an important component you won't find in many area preschools. By January Caroline was reading independently! She's a very confident and enthusiastic learner because of the support she received at DCA. We're all sad to be leaving (especially Caroline), but we'll definitely be back to visit.

We had our son in another daycare and were not happy about the educational piece of that program. We heard of Discovery through word of mouth, and decided to check it out. Meeting with Loretta and seeing the interactions of the teachers and children, there was not a second thought to moving Dylan to Discovery. Loretta is a burst of energy, and the personal attention to every child is truly amazing. Dylan stayed for Kindergarten at Discovery and it paid off, he was more than well prepared when entering the public schools from both academics and emotional/social development. Mrs. Rochelle keeps in close contact with parents to ensure your child is on the right path and you can feel that personal connection with the children, and the effort to help the children to become ready for the next stage of education. We take Dylan back to Discovery when he has half days and breaks from 1st grade, as well as during the summer time.



When we had our second child, we couldn’t wait to move him to Discovery when he met the age requirement. It was amazing to see the difference with Nolan’s personality in the first weeks and months at Discovery. He just blossomed. Nolan started saying more words, interacting with his brother in a more positive manner, singing songs, reciting colors, numbers and the alphabet. Discovery is truly a mother’s dream. I never once had apprehension leaving my children at Discovery. I would trust all of the teachers/caregivers to come into my home and babysit. My son Nolan is attached to Loretta “Ra Ra” as he calls her, and the loving bond between Nolan and Ms. Jasmine is genuine and great to see



In short, I would strongly recommend Discovery Corner to any family, you will not be disappointed!

The school age summer program at DCA is wonderful for my two sons. They love going each day to see old and new friends. DCA provides a great balance between indoor and outdoor activities. My sons favorite activities are capture the flag and bike and ice cream day. I would highly recommend DCA. The staff is caring and conscientious, and they provide age appropriate activities for all.

I feel so fortunate to have my son enrolled in the Kindergarten class at DCA. My son started in their preschool program and we have been very pleased with our experience. DCA is housed in a church but it has adequate play space and classroom space. The teachers and director are extremely caring and genuinely love kids. DCA has been very flexible with my son’s schedule. They use a lot of positive reinforcement and are very patient. DCA fosters a great learning environment and we especially love the science experiments they do. The Kindergarten class size is really small and the teacher is able to do one on one reading instruction with the kids every week. My son (4.5 years old) is able to read at a third grade reading level and is starting to add two digit numbers. I have worked with him since he was little but DCA really has facilitated a love of learning, especially writing, puzzles, and building. Also, our son’s life skills and social skills have really improved since he started attending (it helps that the other children who attend DCA are generally very nice, the hostess for my son's birthday party even told us this). Most notably, the same exact teachers have been at DCA since my son started attending in 2013. This allows all the teachers to know my son really well, his personality and sensitivities. I think that is really special.

We have 2 twin boys at DCA. They started this year in the Kindergarten class. They were both reading on the second week of school. The staff is very nuturing. DCA makes learning fun. We recommend DCA to all our friends.

My family couldn't be more pleased with this preschool. My 2.5 year old daughter loves her school and her classmates. The director Loretta is not only a saint but an obvious "toddler whisperer". They have a full preschool curriculum, but also offer the convenience of long hours (6:45am-6pm). They are rarely ever closed, only for a few holidays and never on snow days. We recommend DCA to everyone with preschool age children in the area.

Great owners, great director. We have had two children at discovery corner. We had to make a quick choice to change day cares when my oldest was very young, with a recommendation from a co worker we checked out Discovery corner. We our on our second child at Discovery corner and both will spend some time there in the summer.
