Thomas also regularly handles criminal defense cases, and general litigation. Early in his career, Thomas prosecuted cases for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department and also served as an assistant public defender in Sumter County. Thomas has represented local businesses and companies and has assisted with the navigation of complicated legal challenges.

Thomas McElveen completed mediator training through the South Carolina Bar’s Continuing Legal Education Division and is a certified Circuit and Probate Court mediator. Thomas has handled a wide variety of cases over the course of his career, trying many civil and criminal cases to verdict. Thomas’ main area of practice currently focuses on personal injury and wrongful death claims.
There is no fee for the initial consultation for criminal cases or contingency cases, including automobile wrecks, motorcycle wrecks, bicycle wrecks, tractor trailer wrecks, slip and fall, workers compensation, and wrongful death. With cases handled on a contingency fee basis, you only pay attorney fees and costs if the outcome is successful and we obtain a settlement or jury verdict on your behalf. The attorney fees in contingency fee cases are computed before deducting the expenses related to your case. The fee to obtain representation for criminal cases will be discussed with you when you meet with the attorney.

Mr. Ford was a special agent with the FBI from 1969 to 1974. He joined the Bryan Law Firm as an associate in 1980 and became a partner in 1981. His practice focused primarily on personal injury.
