Dad's Small Engines

DO NOT do business with this individual. After almost two weeks of having our equipment, and doing nothing but telling us why it couldn't be repaired, (haven't looked at it yet, the mechanic is at the Dr's, I have an 18 wheeler here with new mowers, etc.) and that it needed "New" parts, I brought it home and, 45 minutes later, fixed the original carburetor myself. We were told that a PLASTIC carburetor was full of rust and he wanted us to pay $500.00 for a new one!! We were not provided with a customer copy of the estimate so I'm glad that the place didn't burn to the ground. If you're a woman, forget about trying to talk to him, he'll do nothing but talk over you just like he did with my wife. He tried to make us believe that we told him that the engine was smoking and that the RPM's fluctuated. We gave him the original carburetor to repair, told him that there was a used carburetor on it, and that my wife DROVE it onto the trailer to transport it to SC.

I took in a used mower I bought for $50 and they rebuilt it to be amazing! This thing is a beast! It always starts and will cut through anything. I would recommend these guys to anyone in Sumter who needs mower work. They really know what they are doing and give you a fair deal.

Has tons of new mowers in stock... place is neat... first thing I noticed was that the showroom was not air conditioned... second thing I noticed was that they don't volunteer to give you a customer copy of the work to be performed which can be used as a claims ticket should the place burn to the ground or a weather disaster wipe the place off the map. The owner got a little testy when I asked for one. The third thing I found out was that they only have one mechanic!!!!! This is the biggy... one mechanic!!! I took my riding mower in mid-week, was told they had to order the part. Checked back with them mid-week the following week, was told the part came in Friday and that the mechanic was out-of-town doing repairs to a mower for a commercial lawn service. I don't think I will be using this company again... but who knows... the next one may be just as bad.... whatever happened to the days when you could count on good service????
