Dental Care
We have recommended a complete dental prophy for your pet. This procedure in pets is very similar to what people undergo except that we must place them under anesthesia. It is not possible to perform a complete oral examination and cleaning on an awake dog.
Vaccination
A Health Certificate is a document that is issued by the veterinarian certifying that 1) the veterinarian has examined the traveling dog or cat, 2) considers the pet to be in good health and free of infectious or contagious diseases, and 3) the pet has a current rabies vaccination and is not from a rabies quarantined area. The Health Certificate must be prepared by a USDA accredited veterinarian ( our veterinarians have obtained this accreditation), this is not to be confused with the Official APHIS State veterinarian-who in most cases must endorse international Health Certificates after preparation by an accredited veterinarian.
Nutritional Counseling
Whether your pet has special dietary needs or simply needs to shed (or gain) a few pounds, our nutritional counseling services can help you accomplish your goals and keep your pet in good health. Pain Management
Leaving your pet for the day when surgery is involved can be a stressful situation for you and your pet. Part of the reason we require to have your pet here early on the morning is to help him/her calm down and reduce any amount of stress of being in a new environment. When it is almost time for surgery your pet will be given a pre-anesthetic injection that will further help keep him/her in a restful state. This pre-anesthetic injection also helps with post pain management throughout the evening of surgery. An IV catheter will be placed in older pets, and intravenous fluids will be administered throughout the procedure. We then fully anesthetize the patient. Every breath, heartbeat and your pet's blood pressure is carefully monitored by our technicians. When the procedure is done, the technician will sit with the patient until they are fully awake. The IV catheter will be removed and a bandage will be placed. You may remove the bandage upon returing home. You will then receive a phone call to update you on your pets condition and set up with a time to pick up.

Leptospirosis Treatment
Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that is a worldwide problem. It is contracted through exposure to stagnant or slow-moving water that contains Leptospira bacteria, which usually enter a water source after being shed in the urine of an infected animal (commonly cattle).
Bacterial and Viral Infection Treatment
Dogs with symptoms of illness caused by leptospirosis generally need intensive in-hospital treatment for dehydration, kidney failure, acute liver inflammation, or any combination of these problems caused by leptospirosis. Blood transfusions may be needed if significant bleeding has occurred, which is possible in cases of leptospirosis. Antibiotics are used for treating the Leptospirainfection; often, two types of antibiotics are used because certain antibiotic classes are good at stopping shedding but do not kill Leptospira, whereas other antibiotic classes do the exact reverse. The outlook is variable; dogs that are treated early and have a mild case of the disease generally do well and regain a normal life after treatment, whereas severely affected dogs may develop irreversible liver and/or kidney failure and die or be euthanized as a result of this disease. Antibiotic treatment is necessary to eliminate the bacterial infection in apparently healthy carrier dogs.

►GLU (glucose) is a blood sugar. Elevated levels may indicate diabetes mellitus. Low levels can cause collapse, seizures, or coma.

*Mass removals: The area where the mass was removed is going to be a little sore and may start to itch after a day or two. We highly discourage excessive licking at the surgical site and will place an Elizabethan collar on your pet prior to discharge. This collar will need to remain on your pet until the sutures/staples are removed approximately 14 days from surgery. An Elizabethan collar will also be place on pet's for other procedures such as spaying and neutering and laceration repairs.

Laboratory Services
Patients are required to have a full blood profile drawn prior to any procedure that involves anesthesia. This blood work should be drawn 2-3 days before the surgery date. All of our surgical patients are to have a Pre-surgical exam prior to anesthesia to ensure that they are physically healthy for surgery.
X-Ray
Dental Radiology
Dental x-rays are necessary to determine the extent of periodontal disease. They help us to determine if missing teeth are really missing. If they are not missing there can be any number of other problems: they may be embedded in the jaw where they can cause cysts or cancer or root tips may be left behind causing infection and pain. Dental x-rays can detect cancer, root tip abscesses, bone loss, resorptive lesions or caries.
