Comprehensive Examination
A Complete Lifecare exam begins with a comprehensive physical exam which looks at eyes, ears, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurological, skeletal system and skin for any abnormalities. Blookwork can be performed if necessary to augment the physical exam. Bloodwork assesses Bone Marrow activity, Kidney/Liver/Pancreas function and Endocrine systems to include the Thyroid and Adrenal glands. A Urinalysis can also help asses the Renal system. If the pets conditions and the physical exam warrents Imaging, then radiology (x-rays) can be done. We also have the option of having a Board Certified Radiologist read your pet x-ray’s. Other diagnostic tests may include Surgery.
Pets that are in pain are miserable. For this reason, we will do whatever we can to keep your pets comfortable.
Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
We offer specific diagnostic tests like allergy testing, fungal testing, cultures and biopsies, along with the most cutting edge treatments to ensure the health of your pets’ skin.
A heart problem can affect your pet at any age and signs of heart disease may be present even if the animal is not in a state of heart failure. Heart disease can lead to congestive heart failure. If a pet is suffering from congestive heart failure, they usually accumulate fluid in the lungs and sometimes in the abdomen. Coughing in the older pet is usually the first sign of Congestive heart failure. Some causes of heart failure include valvular heart disease (leaking heart valves), congenital (pets are born with the defect in the heart), arrhythmias and heartworm infestations.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Dental care is as important for your pet as it is for you. Most periodontal disease and associated organ infections are preventable through a program of oral hygiene and regular professional care. The American Veterinary Dental Society endorses proper care for companion animals. Such care should be a joint effort between the pet owners and veterinarians. Daily tooth cleansing at home, frequent examinations of the mouth, and professional treatment as necessary, provide the framework for good oral health for animals.
Common orthopedic surgeries include cruciate repairs, complex bone fracture repairs, and arthroscopic procedures. Our veterinarians treat bones, joints, and spines to allow pets to move the way they should.
Orthopedic surgery requires more care throughout the whole procedure than other types of surgery. We are here to discuss the surgery in detail before you fully decide to proceed. We will take the best care of your pets during the procedure and while they are staying in the hospital. We will also talk you through the post-op care. We require follow-up appointments so we can make sure your pets are healing the way they should be.
Spaying and Neutering
Spaying and neutering are important and necessary medical procedures that enhance the quality of your pets’ life. Not only does spaying and neutering have positive effects on your pets’ health, it’s also vital to controlling the homeless pet population.
Preventative medicine is important when our pets are young, but as our pets age, and become prone to certain disease processes, annual exams and blood work becomes even more critical.
