Silver Gate Elementary School, founded in 1951, is a coeducational school with more than 20 classrooms, a library, and science and computer laboratories. The school serves more than 400 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. It offers a mathematics program that includes calculating, reasoning and estimating. The school also provides transportation, medical, and breakfast and lunch services. It has a student council that is active in fundraising activities and organizes several extracurricular activities. The school is governed by the San Diego Unified School District.
