The Clock Works has got to be the most experienced and knowledgable clock repair in the greater St. Louis area, no contest. Charles, the owner, has fixed watches and clocks for us and our friends for years, and he even fixed my mom's antique grandfather clock (which she now has serviced by The Clock Works regularly.) He will even explain in detail every component of any type of clock and why it's not working if you let him! Extremely impressive. On top of Charles' encyclopedic knowledge, the prices are fair and every job is done to exacting standards. It's so rare to find a business with such integrity these days, but The Clock Works is certainly one. Highly recommend!
I called another clock service company to service my non-working 22 yr. old Ridgeway Grandfather clock and was told it was worn out. The guy only looked at it maybe 2 minutes and charged me $145. He said it would need an overhaul/rebuild and would cost about $950. I told him I'd have to think about it and he became very pushy. He lefy and I called "The Clock Works!" and Charlles, the owner, was very polite and said that since the clock was only 22 years old, he doubted it would need a complete rebuild, but it was possible.
I took a chance and booked an appointment for the following week with him. When he arrived, he as cheerful and prompt. After an initial inspection that took him 15 minutes, he stated that he did not see any evidence of severe ware, but the bearings were without oil and the chimes were locked-up. After another hour, he had the clock partially disassembled and had resolved the problems. He was there about 2.5 hours and charged me $265. The clock has been running perfectly now for nearly 7 months. He also took time to go over some operating instructions that I was not even aware of.
A+++++ !
I called one day and the Charles showed up the next day. He is very professional and knowledgeable of his craft. He did an excellent job in repairing my grandmother clock and made suggestions for me in care and upkeep. I would recommend him for clockwork
