Back 2 The Grind

Poor service... The place had customers but there was no one at the counter she was sitting reading a magazine which could be seen through a small window. I stood there for quite a while. Mind you it was about 10am?



I have read reviews for this place and it listed it as great - but what you need to look at is the fact they talk about this place being great to sit at. Yes, they have a lot of seating and live events etc. It has an old world feel. But the vibe was horribly bad. I was scowled at by the woman that attended me. Like I had just ruined her day seeing as she stopped reading a magazine to help me. The biggest problem of all? Granted it is nice and all it is great to sit down at. But this is a coffee shop... coffee stop.... coffee cafe. If the coffee is horrible then what is the point?



Horrible coffee if you would call it that? Considering it is a coffee shop? And it tasted like someone to a regular brewed pot and poured half of it out and filled the rest with water to dilute it. So much for asking for a nice strong black coffee.



The lemon bar I bought? I make them professionally... i have had my own bakery and worked in many as well as restaurants. These were equivalent to buying a ready mix from the grocery store and expensive at that. The croissants? Are equivalent to the bagged croissants you buy at the super market and not something I would deem worthy of being in a bakery. They lacked in many areas.



So? My review? If you want to go sit some where and read a book, talk with friends then sure why not go. But if you plan on going for a great cup of coffee or authentic handmade croissants? i would go somewhere else.



As for the service... who knows. People have bad days but in the culinary industry you leave the baggage at the door and it is all about customer service, customer service and more customer service. So to each his own...



My 2 star rating is primarily due to the fact that this is a coffee shop. And the coffee they serve is a watered down mess.
