The types of mold testing include mold spore traps, tape lift or tape slide sampling, swab testing, and bulk sampling. Home test kits are also available, and these involve placing a special fluid-filled dish in the area that you believe could be contaminated. Note that the results of home test kits are not accepted for legal, medical, or insurance purposes.

There are three types of mold testing. You can test the air in your home, test household surfaces, or do bulk testing, which tests bits of material (bulk). If you think you might have mold, you should probably do all three tests.
