"The handling of this case was never negligent, nor inconvenient," Wentworth said in a lengthy written response. Three of the office's top lawyers with significant experience prosecuting sexual abuse were assigned to the case, he said, and a medical expert and child abuse expert were retained to assist the grand jury with its review.
Sahnow appeared before Judge Theodore Sims Thursday, Oct. 13, in a Washington County courtroom, represented by criminal defense attorney Stephen Houze.
Sex Crimes
Jake and Stephen Houze represented a software engineer in a multi-count, Ballot Measure 11 sexual assault trial in Washington County. Throughout the two-week trial, Jake and Stephen Houze exposed the falsity of the allegations made by the accuser, who was the former girlfriend of their client. On May 30, 2024, a Washington County Circuit Court judge found their client Not Guilty of all charges. The court made detailed findings in its oral verdict, including finding the accuser to be "not credible."
Robbery

Burglary
"He knows that the interior of the victim's home is protected by video surveillance cameras," the Appeals Court wrote. "To prove that another person, not the defendant, committed the burglary, the defendant subpoenas the videotape" under the condition that a technician screens it for information and a judge determines if segments should be given to the defense.

Jacob G Houze is a graduate of New York University and Northeastern University School of Law in Boston. During law school Jacob completed internships in Boston with a Federal District Court Judge, the Federal Public Defender office, and two state court public defender offices. Jacob began his legal career at Metropolitan Public Defender in downtown Portland, where he represented hundreds of clients in misdemeanor and felony cases. Jacob was a presenter at a CLE, hosted by the Multnomah Bar Association, on the subject of the Multnomah County Justice Reinvestment Program. Jacob joined Stephen A. Houze in private practice at the beginning of 2016.

Drug Crimes
Barnthouse was accused of being a drug dealer -- specifically, the crimes of unlawful delivery of marijuana for consideration and unlawful possession of marijuana. Barnthouse hired Houze as his defense attorney.
Assault
Tyner said his client as well as at least seven other victims have filed lawsuits against Sahnow for assault and battery. He said they'll likely amend the suit to include elder abuse. Tyner said that the tenants who filed lawsuits received 60-day eviction notices, which were later rescinded after attorneys representing the victims brought up the violation of tenant laws. Tyner described the action as blatantly "retaliatory."
Murder
He was charged with murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison with a 25-year minimum. To prove murder under Oregon law, prosecutors would have had to prove that Coffey "intentionally" killed his wife -- something that would require proof that he was of coherent mind at the time.
Identity Theft

Homicide
The parents of a twin girl who died hours after a home birth attended by dozens of people from the faith-healing Followers of Christ Church pleaded guilty Monday to negligent homicide and criminal mistreatment.
Restraining Order
In May of 2008, a few months after Munoz and girlfriend, Beverly Mather, broke up, she sought the first of two restraining orders against him. Both were granted by the court.
Forgery
Hummel said he filed the motion to dismiss the indictment the grand jury returned in July, charging Miller with theft, forgery and falsifying business records. He did so "with prejudice," meaning the charges cannot be brought again.

Court records reveal little else about Perry, except that he completed diversion for a 2008 DUII and that he owns two limited liability companies based in Bend. One is a small investment company, the other is named Fly and Fin, LLC. Perry is an avid sportsman who enjoys fishing and took photos, at one time, for a local fly fishing outfitter's website, according to friends and acquaintances.
The revelations come two weeks after Sports Illustrated detailed years of sexual harassment and misconduct allegations within the Dallas Mavericks' organization.
