I was a customer at AAA Alarm and Security for 6 years. They provided the monitoring for my home alarm system. At one point they changed companies that monitor the alarms. When I would set off my alarm no one would call from the monitoring company. I complained to AAA and they ignored my complaints. Here is why they CAN ignore complaints. When a customer signs up for monitoring service, they sign a yearly automatically renewing contract agreement. Lets say that you sign in January. The following year, the contract renews automatically in January. Let's say in February following the first renewal you are unhappy with the company's service. You are bound to payments until the following January. I had to pay for 9 months of service AFTER I disconnected my alarm system from their monitoring service. I found another company that has a yearly agreement containing a 30 day cancellation clause. This company has complaints in other places on the net. AVOID.

My father's experience is similar to the below complaint. They mislead an 80 year old man by not being clear that he had signed a auto renew contract, so he couldn't cancel since every time we called they said he was under contract until October, and the same every year until I found out the facts.

After calling to cancel, I was informed that in Sept., my contract automatically rolled over for another year and that I owe an additional $292.15 for service after I terminated. Since they bill in three-month increments, I am paid through Dec. 14th, 2014. There was never any mention of this contractual provision either verbally when I signed nor in any email advising me I had rolled over for another year. I feel this is completely underhanded and their way of squeezing me out of more money since they are angry that I left.
