While in Honduras, Andrew was able to provide emergency and primary care acting in a Humanitarian Capacity at a rural mission hospital on the northern coast of Honduras. Andrew oversaw the Orthopaedic, Rehabilitation and Wound Care Department during his almost six years of service as a full-time medical missionary.

Internal Medicine

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
I was referred to Dr. Torres for a broken wrist, fearing that it would require surgery. In fact, Dr. Torres did not favor surgery, and under his excellent, gentle care I have recovered well. After my excellent treatment, my husband also went to Dr. Torres for carpal tunnel release (the condition was severe), and again Dr. Torres came to the rescue. I would recommend Dr. Torres, not only for his medical experise but also for his ability to listen carefully, explain condition and treatment in lay terms, and his gentle care.

MRI
If you have an Insurance Assigned Primary Care Physician, your insurance requires you to see that doctor first, for all medical care. The PCP will then determine if they want to take an X-ray, send you for an MRI or for Physical Therapy prior to sending you to an Orthopaedic Surgeon. If they do refer you to us, your insurance requires a specific Referral Process and some are only good for two visits. You should become familiar with your Insurances Member Website and monitor your Referrals. Many of these plans require an "Online" referral on the AVAILITY website. We must be able to access this referral through the Availity website prior to scheduling any appointments.
Radiology
Your office visit may include an X-ray, Fracture Care, Casting or an Injection. These are considered Radiology and Surgical Procedures. Depending on your Insurance, you may owe an additional Deductible, Coinsurance or Copay for these procedures in addition to your Specialist Copay.

General Surgery
Dr. Torres joined West Orange Orthopaedics in 1999. He attended the University of Puerto Rico, and then transferred to Cornell University. He received a Bachelor's degree in science from Cornell University and a Master's Degree in Biochemical Genetics from Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, New York. He then attended The John Hopkins University School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine. After completing an internship in general surgery, he completed his Orthopaedic Residency at The John Hopkins Hospital, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He received his Fellowship from University of Florida, Gainesville, FL in Hand and Microvascular.

Joint Replacement
Dr. Kevin Cox gave my husband and myself a new lease on life with multiple joint replacements when other doctors would not even consider joint replacement surgery due to our young ages. Thank you again Dr. Cox and your staff.
Robotic Surgery
Dr. Cox is board eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His areas of specialized experience include Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, General Orthopaedic Surgery, Sports Related Injuries, Trauma, Joint Replacements, and Mako Robotic Surgery.
Hip Replacement
I met Dr. Kevin Cox over three years ago, when I was only 24 years old. I had been told by another doctor that I needed a hip replacement, but was too young to have the surgery. Dr. Cox took one look at my x-rays and reassured me that I not only needed the replacement, but if I didn't have it done, I might not be able to walk eventually. Before my surgery, I was very inactive and I lived in pain 24 hours a day. After my total hip replacement, my life has completely changed. I feel like a new person. I'm pain free, I teach fitness classes and exercise regularly. Dr. Cox has been one of the most caring doctors I've come in contact with and I would recommend him to anyone in need of an orthopedic surgeon.
Knee Replacement
I was so pleased with Dr. Cox, I took my mother from her ortho dr and brought her to Dr. Cox. I felt I could trust him with her and he would show great care for her and the fact that she needed a complete knee replacement. He did not disappoint - again! We'll be back again if we need treatment. We will also refer others to his care.

Andrew joined West Orange Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, P.A. in April of 2023. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from the University of Florida, where he had the opportunity to work with the football and swimming and diving teams. He then worked for two years as a certified athletic trainer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County providing care for the womenâ€™s soccer, baseball, basketball, and track and field teams. He then moved with his wife back to Florida, settling on the space coast, where he worked as an outreach athletic trainer for CORA Physical Therapy providing athletic training services at Melbourne High School before going to PA school at Nova Southeastern University in Orlando Florida.
