Do yourself a favor and find a doctor with a competent office staff. After a month of trying to get an electronic referral to a specialist, I had to go and actually pick up the paperwork myself and deliver it to the specialist's office. However, since they never transmitted the referral to my insurance co., the referral was invalid. It has to be transmitted to the insurance by the doctor's office, and they are unable to do that. At one point, the specialist called Dr. Hocker's office and was told I had never been a patient there. On the referral form, my first and last names were misspelled and some insurance info was in the wrong place. When I pointed this out (two days ago, in another desperate attempt at getting a referral), they didn't care. As of this morning, my insurance has not received the referral. I have a serious condition that needs to be treated. I've been trying for 3 months for a referral to a specialist. I'll be looking for another doctor. I advise you to do the same.
