For many years I would view the idea of chronic mold and yeast infections through an ambiguous lens akin to chronic Lyme disease. My perspective would be shattered due to an insidious water leak in my south Philadelphia home that began my family’s journey to dealing with mold. Initially this involved removing water damaged and visibly moldy walls and flooring in my basement and a second remediation to isolate a persistent leak from our stucco exterior. We thought this would be the end of our figurative headaches from the logistical and financial stress. What we didn’t foresee was the cascade of health maladies including chronic sinusitis, brain fog, and autoimmune thyroiditis despite the visible mold being removed. This led me to investigate mold treatment protocols from experts such as Dr’s Ritchie Shoemaker, Frank Shallenberger, Ty Vincent, specialists from ILADS and ultimately finding my answer at the Chung Institute through a comprehensive integrative approach.
Family Practice
Kyu Chung, MD, graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1977 and the U. of W. School of Medicine in 1981. He is currently a clinical associate professor at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the founder and director of the Institute for Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine since 1995. This Institute’s name was changed in 2005 into the current name: Chung Institute of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Chung served as the Chief of the department of Family Medicine at Cooper University Hospital for 13 years before electing to devote his entire efforts to his role as the director of the Chung Institute. Dr. Chung is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and board certified in Medical Acupuncture by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture. He has been named in both the Philadelphia Magazine and the New Jersey Monthly Magazine as one of the “Top Doctors” and named as one of the “Best doctors in the Northeast” by Woodward/White.

Kevin Q. Ng, MD is a Philadelphia area native where he completed the majority of his professional training prior to setting down roots in South Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of the Sciences (now St. Joseph’s University) studying biochemistry and researching oncogenes, inspired to do so from both of his parents battle with cancer. He graduated medical school at Temple University School of Medicine in 2009 where he had the opportunity to study abroad in Kenya to broaden his perspective on parasitology. He then completed both an Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Cooper University Hospital with his research focused on Candidemia and sepsis. He began his career practicing as an Infectious Disease specialist for several years and was also Medical Director of the Hyperbaric Medicine Program at Virtua. Thereafter, he decided to further his education focusing on integrative modalities. In 2017, Dr. Ng began training directly under Dr. Myung Kyu Chung at the Chung Institute of Integrative Medicine where he gained invaluable clinical experience. Additionally, he completed medical acupuncture training at Helms Medical Institute followed by prolotherapy at University of Wisconsin’s Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation. He joined the Chung Institute of Integrative Medicine in 2019 with a focus on integrative infectious care including both natural and pharmacologic treatments of mold, parasites, and Lyme. This evolved to include prevention and treatment of “Long COVID” combined with innovative pain management in the pursuit of vibrant health and longevity. As an integrative medicine practitioner, he utilizes a combination of conventional medicine and alternative modalities including neural therapy, prolotherapy and prolozone, medical acupuncture, low dose immunotherapy, homeopathy, photobiomodulation, syntonic color therapy, chelation therapy, apitherapy, herbal medicine and autonomic response testing in addition to other treatments. He also believes in the importance of patient education with respect to lifestyle modification, nutrition, and holistic mental healthcare. Dr. Ng maintains his allopathic acumen with inpatient duties as an Attending Infectious Disease Physician at Cooper University Hospital. With his academic appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Dr. Ng enjoys teaching at all levels ranging from undergraduates to attending and specialist physicians. He is passionate on furthering awareness and accessibility of integrative modalities by performing clinical research with the Won Sook Chung Foundation and educating through social media.
