I've been riding here since 2001. Love the animals, love the owner, I won't ride anywhere else! Beautiful Trails that go through nature. I often see deer, cranes and other wildlife. Big variety of horses, including drafts that are easy and fun to ride!
I called to get information and the lady was very rude, I should have decided right there not to go. When we arrived, she charged us more than quoted and was very unprofessional. I had my daughter and niece with me and they were excited, as we got on the horses a few were very jumpy and it was very chaotic, my daughter then started crying and wanted to get off, the one lady stated very snotty "no one is getting off" I said "ma'am...she wants to get down, its ok with me." She said she would walk with her a bit, I figured ok, maybe once they get going it will get better. My daughter was on a very slow paced horse that didnt want to keep up and she had a hard time keeping her from eating so the front trail guide told the back trail guide to get down from her horse and get a stick and give it to my daughter to hit her horse with to get her going...my daughter is 7...this was not something she should be doing...later the front trail guide had the otehr trail guide come up and take her reins, the back trail guide didnt know how to do this (she must have been new??) Her (trail guide) horse should have been taken out before going on this trail, he was full of energy and just wanted to go, my horse which was in front of this...did not like that horse and kicked and went to bite a multiple of times (great fun!) She later asked the front trail guide if something could be done because my horse kept kicking hers. He came back from the front on a horse that he could not control and was all over the place, he is obiously nervous and telling the horse he is going to respect him. So now the two horses that are full of energy are noext to each other, right behind my horse who is having a fit and right next to my daughter who is now screaming hysterically that she wants to get down and the guide is telling her she cant get off! It took a lot and finally I had to stop being polite and tell him that there was going to be a big problem if he didnt get her off that horse now. I told him I can easily lead the horses back (he ascted like we were never on horses). Anyways thats what it took to get her off the horse after a bunch off rude pushy people insisted that she stay on. I took my chance in hopes it would get better...unfortunately her horse lessons are on hold :( The big signs every where that states ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS should be another red flag. They should know what horses can be by each other and not to do trial runs with new horses with customers. I have faith that this is a blessing in disguise! When we returned back on foot the two women shot in the back and didnt return...they obviously knew and didnt want to deal with any situation. As a business owner I found this horrible and know this place wont be in business long. There were also many skinny horses around. Respect and kindness goes a long ways and this place is lacking in both.
The horses were wonderful and seemed well cared for - the trails were beautiful and the ride itself was really lovely and fun for a large family group. We enjoyed our trail guide Autumn - she was super friendly, knowledgeable and excellent with the smaller children and young kids who were riding solo with their small horses. The owner seemed aggravated and irritated, particularly in her dealings with the other employees. The way she dealt with them seemed really brash and made us feel uncomfortable. Additionally the way she briefed us on what we were doing / what we needed to remember was short and somewhat harsh. A small dose of friendly communication and some basic customer service would go a long way. They do try to sell you trinkets / t-shirts / etc... and it seems forced and overly sold. Definitely buy the horse treats (this helps you bond with the horses and is fun to do, especially for the kids.) Overall it was a pleasant experience and we enjoyed ourselves very much.
The owner was very rude and pushy to sell t-shirts, horse food, trinkets and other items other than horse back riding. My wife and I are small size body frames and were given very large Belgium work horses to ride thus hurting our legs and back areas. The owner was very bossy and rude to the workers on the ranch. I WOULD "NOT" tell any one to ride here period.
The Owners and Staff were fabulous ... Our daughters ages 5 & 6, who have never rode a horse had the best time at Red Ridge Ranch. The staff were excellent with our kids, and all others who were there (about 25 riders) on the trail ride <NOBODY WAS RUDE> Thanks to all at the Ranch for a Great experience!!! All the Horses were well trained.. and very well cared for. Thanks to all at the Ranch for a Great experience!! We will be back.
I agree, the employees are actually better than management. The manager is really RUDE for no reason!!!
