Ear Infections
If your child is pulling at his/her ears and crying more than usual, and running a temperature you may suspect that something is wrong. Could the child have an ear infection? How many days of crying, Do you “wait it out”? Each parent is different. Some wait and see and some immediately run their child to the doctor.

Autism
Children that would benefit from Physical Therapy have diagnoses that would include, but not be limited to: Developmental Delays due to prematurity, Neurological Disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Congenital Hypotonia, Genetic Syndromes, i.e. Down Syndrome, Hydrocephalus, Spina Bifida, Musculoskeletal Disorders, such as scoliosis, Arthrogryposis, Muscular Dystrophy, Torticollis, Club Feet, Orthopedic Injuries, Spinal Cord Injury, Autism, Cancer, or other Trauma.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Our company is constantly receiving referrals from specialists in the pediatric community. Pediatricians, psychiatrists, counselors, fellow therapists and parents often refer children to Building Blocks Pediatrics for treatment of sensory integration deficits, feeding issues, torticollis, gross motor delays, fine motor delays, handwriting, Down Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, Cerebral Palsy, speech delays, and splinting for the upper body.

Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy is provided to children from birth to twenty-one who are experiencing functional limitations or disability due to a disorder, a disease process, or trauma. The goals of treatment are to diminish impairments and to prevent or decrease disability, while enhancing reflexes, improving tone, range of motion, and strength, as well as motor skills and functions. Treatment may be focused on improving developmental tasks, motor planning, manipulation skills, balance, and/or coordination.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is concerned with a child’s ability to participate in desired daily life activities. Occupational Therapists use their unique expertise to help children prepare for and perform important learning and developmental activities for children with and without disabilities. Occupational Therapy addresses the “occupations” of life. A child’s “occupations” may include playing age appropriately, participating in social groups or school activities, completing age appropriate self-care routines, participating in extracurricular activities, and being a part of the family unit. Being able to participate “age appropriately” may be difficult for children with or without a disability.
