Crown Reduction
Crown Reducing is a method of reducing a trees height and width by a certain percentage or footage. Topping is not a recommended pruning method, unless there is a safety factor such as a large dead or dying tree. Crown Reduction is usually performed on a tree that is prevalent to storm damage, leaning toward a structure, or a tree that has outgrown the area it was planted in. Drop Crotch pruning is an acceptable method that results in a crown reduction by cutting the longest ‘terminal’ branch on a limb, and leaving the shorter ones on that same branch.

They have professional landscape architects who can offer complete structural and plant designs from an auto CAD system.

Tree Pruning and Trimming
Colgan Tree Service, Inc. provides tree pruning & tree trimming services. Pruning your trees on a regular basis keeps them healthy and beautiful. There are many different tree trimming methods for different species of trees, and for how you want your trees to grow.
Tree Maintenance
During our busy season starting in mid-April and continuing through October, it takes approximately 2 weeks from the time you approve your work and completion of the job. In the winter months our work slows down so we can complete a job within 1 week. Our prices go down in the winter as well- so it’s a great time to have tree work done!
Arborist Services
Our Certified Arborists are certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Hiring an ISA Certified Arborist is recommended when planning to remove a tree by transplanting. We provide a full tree inspection and gather information from the customer as to possible changes that could have led to the decline of the tree.
Land Clearing
Brush cleaning, wood cutting and chipping are all part of our regular land clearing and tree services. We offer site and landscape grading, erosion control and a variety of other land/site management options for new construction or property development projects.
Tree Mulching
We own many different sized machines to handle stumps that are extremely large in size, or are located on a sloped hill, or a stump that is wedged in a narrow surrounding. We can leave the tree stump wood chips piled up for you to re-use as mulch, or haul them away for an extra charge.

Landscaping Services
Our terms are “Payment in full due upon completion”. Once the job is finished, we will present you with the invoice. You can pay the foreman directly with a check made payable to Colgan Tree and Landscape Service Inc, or cash. If you would like to pay using a credit card, you will be instructed to call the office. We accept all major credit cards. If you can’t be home when the work is done, the foreman will leave an invoice in your door. You may mail us a check or call to pay by credit card.
