Psoriasis is a non-contagious inflammatory disorder that typically affects the skin, but can also attack the joints in a condition known as psoriatic arthritis. Individuals in need of psoriasis treatment develop scaly patches on the skin due to overactive skin cell production. This develops most often on the elbows, knees and scalp, but can occur almost anywhere on the body.
