great bunch of guys
The only plus was this guy answered his phone on a Sunday morning. I brought him a deer asked how much it'd be. He said 70 to process ten to dress it out (whole deer non field dressed.) total 80. All that transpired over the phone. I got there, I was a little reluctant to drop it off. Didn't appear to be too sanitary. But none the less I was hamstrung, I had to work in two hours. He said how do you want it? I said hamburger and sausage. He said two bucks a pound for link. Ten pounds? I said fine. Now we are at 100 bucks. Pretty steep but got it. Two weeks later he calls says it's done we are open till nine or so. I called on the way asked if he took card as it says here he does. Infact he does not, "it's a family business and I just can't absorb the cost of plastic" I asked how much meat did they get off of it? His response was I don't know we don't weigh it. so I stopped got cash. Got there they loaded it up. Got home weighed it in their packages and I had 37 pounds of meat and wrapper. She weighed 110 pounds. Open up the trash bags they had her in. Two small packages of back strap. (Id equate it to one side of backstrap.) no tenderloin a package of ribs bone in. And eight pounds of link that he sold to me as ten pounds at two bucks a pound. I won't be going back. As I said earlier I was hamstrung and I learned my lesson I won't hunt the mornings if I gotta work the pm. I'll buy my own grinder and fat, try my hand at it myself before I go back to Daffins. Or I just stick to the tried and true. Stew meat fry meat and back strap.
Have used Daffin's a few times with our pigs and have always been pleased. They come out and handle the whole thing, from the pen to the freezer. Will definitely be using them again!
