Lambda Technologies was founded in 1977 as an independent laboratory to specialize in X-ray diffraction and materials testing. It focused on residual stress measurement, texture analysis and quantitative phase analysis of polycrystalline metallic and ceramic materials. These services are provided by Lambda Technologies Laboratory Services. The research and engineering areas became involved in the development of a process to enhance fatigue life for manufacturers. The success of Lambda's patented low plasticity burnishing technology in extending the life of metals and metal alloys led to an engineering group to design tools for clients. These services are now incorporated into Lambda Technologies Research and Engineering. In 2001, the Surface Enhancement Technologies division was created to implement solutions in the business world. Lambda Technologies Laboratory Services, Research & Engineering and Surface Enhancement provide an X-ray diffraction testing facility and an engineering and production enterprise.
