Overall

Although the doctors were nice...

Although the doctors were nice and very professional, I just didn't like the way some patients were treated by the staff or more like the receptionist that was at the front. While I was there a man went in to ask a question and she started treating him poorly and with a totally lack of respect. Even though I go to the doctors to get treatment, I still like to be able to have a respectful conversation with the receptionist so I could ask questions. However, I felt like if I asked her a question she would bite my head off. I don't recommend going if that receptionist is there.

Kidney Cancer
A solid growth in the kidney is usually a kidney cancer. Cancer will grow and spread to other parts of the body if given enough time. A small tumor is usually easily curable whereas a larger tumor has a higher risk of spread. Kidney cancer is only curable if diagnosed and treated before it spreads. Prompt diagnosis, staging and a full discussion of appropriate treatments with your doctor is essential.
Kidney Stones
The peak incidence of stone disease occurs at the ages of 20-40 years, although stones are seen in all age groups. Males to female ratio is 3:1. Calcium oxalate stones, the most common variety, have a recurrence rate of 10% at 1 year, 35% at 3 years, and 50% at 5 years after the first episode. Kidney stones develop when crystals separate from the urine and aggregate within the urinary tract. Magnesium-ammonium-phosphate stones occur in the presence of infection. Uric acid stones form in patients with gout. Certain drugs and supplements, such as vitamin C, can also increase the risk of stones.
Interstitial Cystitis
Cystitis is caused by infection or inflammation of the bladder. A simple UTI, or honeymoon cystitis, is the most common cause. Interstitial cystitis is a bladder disorder of unknown etiology, which is associated with bladder pain and frequent urination. This problem may be exacerbated by sexual intercourse or consumption of certain foods or beverages.

Prostate cancer is second to lung cancer in deaths among men. New data has detected a decline in deaths from prostate cancer over the past years. This emphasizes the benefits of early detection.

After graduating from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1981, Dr. Berman interned in General Surgery and then completed his Urology residency at Montefiore- Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1986. In 1986 Dr. Berman started practice in New York and opened a second office in Throggs Neck/The Bronx in 1989. In 2010 Dr. Berman moved his Manhattan office from Greenwich Village to 201 E. 19th Street in Gramercy.
