Dr. Fishman is one of few fellowship-trained refractive surgeons in New York. As a refractive specialist, he provides LASIK and refractive cataract surgery to minimize patients dependence on glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Fishman also provides advanced comprehensive eye care and treats glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, eye allergies, dry eyes, ocular trauma, and prescribes glasses. Dr. Fishman graduated with a Bachelors degree in Neuroscience from Brown University. He attended the esteemed Brown University School of Medicine and was selected to study at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Dr. Fishman completed his Ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, the oldest specialty eye hospital in the Western hemisphere. Dr. Fishman further advanced his training by completing a year-long fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery with world-renowned physicians, Dr. Eric D. Donnenfeld of the Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island and Dr. Barrie D. Soloway of the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary. The field of cataract and refractive laser surgery has undergone revolutionary changes in recent years. Dr. Fishman is one of the few physicians in New York with extensive training in this area. Dr. Fishman is a strong believer in medical research to advance our knowledge of eye disease. He has conducted numerous research studies, has written a book chapter, and has published and presented at national and international conferences. For his research commitment, Dr. Fishman received many research honors, including the prestigious scholar award of the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology. Dr. Fishman is a member of various medical societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American College of Eye Surgeons. He is an attending physician at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
