What a frustrating and a disappointing way to spend 30k. He knew our renovation budget from the beginning and yet more than once we were presented plans that were clearly beyond it. He called it "part of the process". It took months for him to complete our designs and there was very little use of technology ("I respond better to phone calls than emails"). It was like pulling teeth to get updates to drawings and they were not CAD until a scramble at the very end. As we look back, the entire process was very one sided in terms of understanding how we lived and how that would translate into our renovation. Our bids are now coming back double and almost triple what we can afford and we are back to square one.
