Medical Weight Loss
The initial workup will begin with a simple ultrasound done in the comfort of our office. This allows us to create an individualized treatment plan to meet your goals. Treatment timelines, number of sessions and results vary between patients. Most treatment begins with self-care measures like leg elevation, wearing compression stockings, exercise, and weight loss if needed.
Primary Care
Please have the name and mailing address of your insurance company available as well as your policy and group numbers. It would be extremely helpful if you bring your insurance or Medicare or Medicaid card with you. We will also need to know if your insurance requires pre-certification, a referral slip from your primary care physician, and second opinions for surgical procedures, if needed, we will assist you in obtaining pre-authorizations and second surgical opinions.
Emergency Care
Depending on the location of the dissection, these can require immediate surgical intervention. Symptoms can vary but typically patients will present with chest pain that may radiate to the back. If blood flow to other areas of the body is affected it can cause stroke, paralysis, limb pain, and abdominal pain. Of course, chest pain can have many causes so it is important that if you have chest pain that you get to your nearest emergency room as soon as possible.

Ultrasound
Developing a comprehensive treatment plan follows a thorough assessment. The assessment will normally consist of a review of your venous symptoms, a visual inspection of your problems, and a thorough review of your history. The assessment is then supplemented by a diagnostic ultrasound if indicated by a registered vascular technologist. Venous ultrasounds are performed in the comfort of our office with the accredited CVT Vascular Lab. We are able to go over the results of your testing immediately making the process quick and easy.

Computed Tomography
There are multiple measurements taken via a carotid duplex ultrasound and/or computed tomography angiography (CTA) that help the clinician grade the degree of stenosis. In most cases, your provider will recommend medical management (antiplatelet and statin therapy). However, if your stenosis or blockage is greater than 80% or greater than 50% and symptomatic, your provider will likely recommend surgery to remove the plaque via a carotid endarterectomy (CEA), and in very few instances, a carotid artery stent placement.
