        Operational since 1965, Abate-A-Weed is a retail supplier of lawn and garden equipment and also provides weed control services to the customers of Kern County. Based in Bakersfield, Calif., it sells all the major brands of outdoor power equipment, such as Echo, Shindaiwa, Honda, Husqvarna, Exmark, Gravely, John Deere and more. Abate-A-Weed offers control services for weeds, consisting of Annual Bluegrass, Common Chickweed, Bermudagrass, California Burclover, Common Groundsel, Creeping Woodsorrel and Little Mallow, to name a few.

        Abate-A-Weed was founded in October of 1965 by Jona Feil and Marvin Bartel for the express purpose of providing weed and insect control for industrial, commercial and residential property. The company began with one spray rig and one working partner. Abate-A-Weed expanded into sales of chemicals in 1967 and sales of lawn and garden equipment in 1975. Jona Feil purchased Marvin Bartel’s share of the business after his death in 1986.

        Been there a few times. The people are rude there. stood there at the counter waiting to buy a chain saw for about 10 minutes once while the sales man was having a conversation in Spanish with a lady. Not once did he acknowledge that I was even there. I bought my saw from another store.

        They do not stand by their product and they have the worst service in town. I would not buy a thing from the store.

        Don't stand behind their work

        Have used this place several times. Never again. I took my mower in to be sharpened. Picked it up a few days later. As soon as I got it home I started it and there was a loud metallic sound coming from the blades. I took it back to the shop within 24hrs and the service writer told me the noise I was hearing was probably a rock. I started the mower and the look on the service writers face let me know that he knew the mower wasnt right. But yet because of the mechanic who refused to speak in english so I could understand what was wrong. They would not let me leave the mower or let me speak with a mgr.
