General Info: Operational for more than six decades, OmniSource Corporation is one of North America s largest processors and distributors of scrap and secondary metals. Renamed to its present name in 1983, Steel Dynamics Inc. acquired the company in 2007 and operates independently as a wholly owned subsidiary. Founded in Fort Wayne, Ind., OmniSource Corporation collects or processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap at more than 70 facilities in the United States, including the operation of 11 automotive shredders. Its primary collection and processing facilities are in the Midwest, the Southeast and the mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. The company also offers brokerage, trading, logistics, transportation and environmental compliance services.
