American Fork Tunex

I got an emissions test done here. They were super friendly and quick. I'll be coming back for sure.

We took our older toyota to these guys based on a reccomendation from big o tires. Our vehicle was stalling, smoking and sputtering. I have always been hesitant to trust any mechanic to work on my car. This place was wonderful. They spent plenty of time checking everything that could cause the problem. In the end, it ended up being a simple vacuum hose that had fallen off. they tightened it and it is running better and quieter than it EVER has. They easily could have told us it was anything major and we would have believed them and paid for it. They were also nice enough to tell us how all of the tests went and to inform us of things we may want to look into getting fixed soon (which i greatly appreciate so we can avoid being in this situation again.) despite all of the tests they ran, they charged us a very reasonable ammount for the diagnostic (less than we were expecting.) I couldn't be happier with the way they treated us and from now on, I will always go to them if we have any car problems. Thanks for being so honest!

We have taken our vehicles to this Tunex, which is apparently under new management in the last few years. I recently took my Tundra to Big O tire in Lehi to have my shocks and brakes checked and was told they were fine but that my passenger side control arm and ball joint needed replacing for a small fee of $600. Called Tunex in AF and was quoted a price of $406 for the SAME parts and labor.

Once Tunex started doing the work, the control arm was in fine condition and didn't need to be repaired (even though they already had the part and could have easily done it without telling me!) but that my front driver's side strut was actually broken and that my brakes were about 90% gone (both things that Big O Tire completely missed!).

The staff is very professional and every time I've had work done there, they've always SHOWN me what needs to be done and then any recommendations without being pushy at all! I will take all of my car repairs to this shop and feel completely confident referring my friends to this repair shop as well!

These guys are so GREAT to work with! Nobody likes having their car break down...It Sucks! The guys at Tunex made life so much easier, their prices were very reasonable, their repair work was honest- my car runs great- better than ever- and a huge plus is that they are super friendly and very professional. Tunex of American Fork is my mechanic shop of choice. I have all my repairs done there. I feel the work is done well and in a timely manner and at a fair rate. I think the staff is trustworthy and knowledgable. I have had my brakes replaced, the safety and emissions on all my cars done there and they were able to figure out why the 4 wheel drive in my SUV was not working and repaired it as well. I have been completely satisfied with the work they have perfomed. I recommend this Tunex and am a loyal customer to their shop.

I took my son car in to the tunex after another shop had tried to fix the check engine light. The mechanic told me that all it was is a dirty sensor and that he had cleaned it for me. The light has stayed off and we have had no problems with the car. I was so happy with them that since then I have taken all my cars to them. I will continue do all my repairs with them.

We (my fiance and I) had taken both of our vehicle to Tunex over the past year for oil changes and minor repairs. I thought we had a good relationship with them and considered them our family mechanic. My vehicle began running rough and I took it to them for repairs/service. They said I needed over $500.00 in repairs. I questioned the tech that called me about the necessity of some of the suggested repairs (namely replacing all of my spark plugs which only had about 25,000 miles on them). They stated that indeed all of the spark plugs needed to be replaced because of a problem with coil had burned up all of the spark plugs. They had my vehicle for 1 1/2 days and when we picked it up, it was no better than it was when I brought it in. They took it back in and worked on it some more. The vehicle was still running rough. They tried to pass it off as the transmission or the suspension. We made one of the owners drive with us and asked how it could be the transmission or the suspension when the engine studdered when at a stop light . . . . ummmm no good explanation to that. Then I was told to drive it for a couple of days because the "computer may need to reset itself" and if it was still not to my satisfaction, I should bring it in and they would make it right. Driving it for a few days didn't help anything, but it did give my check a chance to clear my account. When I took the vehicle back, they had it for another day and then said it needed another $500.00 in repairs. I guess that's how they make things right. We took the vehicle to Ken Garff Ford and they had it fixed and running properly in about three hours, at a total cost of $170.00. The repair guy at Ken Garff told me that Tunex had oversold me on the repairs that were necessary and in addition to that Ken Garff had to fix damage that Tunex had done in their "service". Do not do business with Tunex in AF.
