Congratulations to the Village of Cary on their “Public Works Project of the Year (2021).” The American Public Works Association, Fox Valley Branch, awarded the Cary Municipal Center the title for its new combined Village Hall & Police Station. The project consists of a two-story building featuring public areas, a new boardroom, Village and Police offices, Police Department training rooms, and a modern forensic processing lab and evidence room. The project began in late 2020 in partnership with FGM Architects and Frederick Quinn Corporation and incorporates many “green initiatives.” These environmental considerations include high-efficiency LED light fixtures, lighting motion sensors, mass wall insulation and window glazing systems – all part of Commonwealth Edison’s Energy Efficiency Program. The building also includes a sidewalk ice melting system that reduces the use of salt during the winter months, and has space for future electric vehicle charging stations. The $8.5 million facility was completed in 2021.
