Overall

I had a miserable experience with Housing Helpers while searching for a place. I spoke with Becca on the phone two times and both times she was condescending and unhelpful.

Without knowing anything about me she acted as though I wasn't able to afford the place, or have a credit score high enough to qualify. It was like from the sound of my voice she was certain I was unqualified to live there.

Speaking with her the first time I tried to assure her that we met the qualifications she listed, though she seemed doubtful. As if I was lying. I tentatively set up a showing for the following day. I called back the next day to confirm the showing and she asked me again if we would meet the requirements. Again with an attitude like I couldn't possibly have a credit score high enough. She told me that she would have to check in with the owner to see if she could show the house. Which she said she would do after our previous conversation.

After she "checked with the owner", I was told that the owner didn't want to rent it to us because we weren't a couple. (We are a couple they never asked us that).

None of the stipulations Becca mentioned we're listed on the ad and honestly we would have passed all of them but we were never even given a chance.

I'm not convinced that these requirements were from the homeowner either because they changed during the 2 times I spoke with Becca. On our first call she said we were required to have a credit score of 600, the next time we spoke it was 675. The first time she didn't say anything about needing to be a couple but the second time we spoke that suddenly became a problem.

I didn't press the issues though. I don't want to work with someone who treats me that way. As I continue my housing search I will AVOID AT ALL COSTS anything that mentions Housing Helpers.

Overall

my neighbors used housing helpers to screen for rental tenants. it is an on-going disaster since day one with trash, garbage and 7 people living a two bedroom place. eviction is costly and inevitable and housing helpers takes no responsibility.
