King of the Sea

Do NOT dine at "The King of the Sea" buffet (27th street and Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach).

Food is disgusting, not fresh. Soup tastes like canned soup. Bread is cold and not fresh. Shrimp is chewy is rough. garbanzo peas on salad bar were spoiled, and management does NOT care about you.



After bringing it up to the manager's attention, all he had to say was "You should have said it at the beginning of your meal" refusing to give us a price adjustment on our bill (which we did not even ask for). He did not bother to apologize about the spoiled food on our plates. In addition, nobody cared to take the spoiled garbanzo peas off the buffet, putting everyone's health in jepardy.



I am pregnant, and I could have gotten sick. I am posting this because I care and I don't want people going through what my family and I went through at this restaurant.

Buffet price per adult 29.99.



Definitely not worth paying over $200 for a family of 6 for poor food and service.



I do thank our server Jeff for at least listening to us and being understanding.

Waitress could barely speak or understand English, but she went out of her way to please us. That's the positive



We placed the following order:



Appetizers:

Mozzarella cheese sticks - pretty decent

Calamari - extremely salty

Mussels in Marinara sauce - Half were closed meaning for those who know they were dead and not fresh



Main Course:

Broiled flounder - texture was tender for the most part and slightly dry. fish was dull, no salt.



Desserts:

Didn't order after such a bad after-taste of appetizers and main course. They all looked instant vomit, not looking fresh or home made. If I wanted to go to a restaurant to eat supermarket instant and ill seasoned food I can always go to the corner store and buy a package or a microwaveable meal, and save me $80.



Overall was overpriced and no food quality. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

We had a large party and entered late (around 8 pm) but was pleased to see that we were immediately seated. The server was actually pretty good, but the food was not up to par. It was obvious the buffet was old food and the restaurant actually smelled bad from the buffet. My recommendation would be to try somewhere else.

After reading all the reviews we were sceptical about going. We decided to go anyway and thank goodness we did! We had a blast!! They are kid friendly, food was great, good service, and a good atmosphere. Would definately recommend!!
