Dr. Bowman is a board certified ophthalmologist (a medical doctor who has special training in the medical and surgical treatment of eye disorders). He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Brigham Young University, where he maintained a four year academic scholarship and graduated in the top 5% of his class (Magna Cum Laude). He then completed medical school at the Tulane University School of Medicine, where he maintained a four year academic scholarship and graduated in the top 3% of his class. He received various honors and awards including being a junior year inductee into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Merck Manual award. He completed a one year internship at LDS Hospital. This was followed by a three year residency in ophthalmology at the University of Virginia. He served as Chief Resident during his final year of physician training where he enjoyed directing care at the comprehensive eye clinic and teaching other residents. After his residency, Dr. Bowman was in private practice in Davis County for 7 years. During this time, he performed thousands of eye surgeries. He has been involved in advocacy efforts including traveling to Washington DC in support of access to health care for senior citizens. He enjoys teaching and has given numerous lectures to Utah’s ophthalmic technicians at their annual meetings. Dr. Bowman is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Utah Ophthalmology Society. He is an active member of the Utah Medical Association and he currently serves as the President of the Davis County Medical Society. Dr. Bowman provides a variety of eye care services including cataract surgery, LASIK and PRK, and injections for macular degeneration and retinal disease. He also provides general eye care for glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and dry eye syndrome.
