Dr. Herbert Insel’s passion is preventative cardiology, a topic on which he frequently lectures. He also is noted for his skilled treatment of Cardiovascular diseases and thus he has become a highly regarded physician in the eyes of patients and the medical community. What truly sets Dr. Insel apart aside from his awards, credentials, and experience is the individual attention he gives to each of his patients and his humanistic approach to the practice of medicine. Dr. Insel's staff represent this approach by treating each and every patient in a courteous, caring, and attentive manner. Dr. Insel graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. After finishing his residency, Dr. Insel accomplished his fellowship in cardiology at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Insel is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is on staff at New York University Langone Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital and holds a teaching position at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Insel works in tandem with JBI Nutrition to see that a patient's Nutritional, Fitness, and Weight Management needs are met. Provided by Doctor.comDr. Insel is incredibly competent and caring. He is understanding but not assumptive, and really took the time to explore all possible answers to the questions I had. From my first visit, the care he has provided is what I would expect of a family friend.

He always takes the time to understand the big picture, while at the same time focusing on whatever specific health issue or general concern that is in front of him. He is also very good at following up. Dr. Insel is unlike any other cardiologist or general practitioner I have seen.
