Pest Identification
Gateway Pest Control can help. Our pest identification service is free if your specimen is mailed to our office. When mailing us your findings, please keep in mind the following: Collect as many specimens as possible, deliver in a crush-proof container, document where the specimen was collected and include your name and a contact number.
Carpenter ant control can be difficult and requires an integrated approach which involves moisture elimination, removing overhanging tree limbs and firewood, and mechanical alterations to prevent entry. It is important to locate the source of the ants (the nest or satellite nests). Areas where water leaks occur, particularly the roof, soffits, bathroom, and kitchen should be inspected.
Spiders
One day last week I received a phone call from a prospective client requesting information on having their home treated for spiders.
Termites
Whether you’re building a new home, have a current termite problem, or want to prevent a termite attack, our dedicated team of professionals has the solution. We’ll provide you with an evaluation of your property, and show you how our termite treatment options work to protect your investment.
Bed Bugs
Bed bugs can be found in residences, hotels, movie theaters, and most any place people congregate and travel. The adult bed bug is 1/4-inch long, oval, flat, and brown to reddish-brown. The bed bug is flat and thin when unfed but becomes more elongated, plump, and red when it is full of blood.
Fleas
Micro droplets of mouse urine can cause allergies in children. Mice can also bring fleas, termites, ticks and lice into your home.
Cockroaches
German cockroaches are one the most common household insect within the United States. This pest typically infests kitchens and bathrooms but will live anywhere inside heated structures where there is food, water, and harborage. German cockroaches gain entry into structures in grocery bags, cardboard boxes, drink cartons, and infested equipment such as used furniture and appliances. Once cockroaches become established they are prolific breeders capable of producing several thousand offspring in a year. They feed on all types of human food as well as pet food, toothpaste, soap, and glue.
Bees
Real estate inspections for wood destroying insects provide reasonable assurance that the property being bought or sold is not currently infested or damaged by termites or other insects, such as carpenter ants, carpenter bees, or powder post beetles. We will inspect and describe any evidence in our report to you.
Wasps
Our Preventive Stinging Insect Control Program offers you and your family protection from bees, wasps, and hornets all season long. A protective barrier treatment deters bees from nesting on your home. This proactive service will allow you to enjoy the warmer weather without the fear of confronting these pests. Our service includes two pre-scheduled treatments annually as well as free return visits, should nesting appear
Ticks
Gateway Pest Control's tick reduction program will allow you to spend more time outside without worrying about ticks. Call for a complimentary inspection and quote, and receive our tick information sheet describing non-chemical steps to take around the house that will contribute to reduced tick presence and Lyme Disease risk.
Mosquitoes
Gateway Pest Control is now offering individual properties a mosquito abatement program. Our licensed technicians will reduce the mosquito populations around your property, and reduce the factors that allow mosquitoes to breed.
Flies
Our Fly control Program, part of our Green Theme, eliminates flies while ensuring the safekeeping of your property. Our holistic approach balances safety and efficacy with prudent pesticide application, bioremediation, and sanitation and structural recommendations.
Pest bird control and prevention can reduce product loss and enhance the visual impact of your facility.
Sparrows
In addition to defacing windows, walls, and walkways, birds and accumulated bird droppings in and around your facility can be a health hazard. Pigeons, sparrows, and starlings often carry mites and other parasites.
Exclusion is a critical aspect of rodent control. Seal holes with a strong chew-resistant material anywhere mice can enter the building or enter a room. Metal and other strong materials are longer lasting. Particular attention should be paid to any hole which accommodates the diameter of a pencil. Gaps must be smaller than 1/4-inch to prevent mouse entry. Vents may need screening, pipe entries (radiator pipes) may require sealing, and doors may need doorsweeps installed.
Mice
House mice can easily squeeze through holes and gaps wider than 1/4-inch. Rats can enter buildings through 1/2-inch gaps.
Rats
Rats are associated with various diseases and occasionally bite. Leptospirosis is a disease acquired by eating food or drinking water which may be contaminated with infected rat urine.
