Bullard-Marks Veterinary Medical Center

The review by Briff is a bit misleading. All veterinary care is expensive, and Bullard-Marks is no more so that others. The receptionsits and vet techs are terrific, and Dr. Porter, the DVM, is very knowledgeable and has at least three decades of experience. This has given her the ability to diagnose problems and to confirm that diagnosis with lab work, if the human is willing to pay for that work. She is very upfront about this and does not beat around the bush. She does "mumble," but I think I may have a hearing impairment. I have been taking my cats to her for 15 years and have never been unhappy with the quality of care she provides. Sure, it is sad, when an animal goes into liver failure from eating something outside, or becomes diabetic, or developes feline leukemia, but we all (hopefully) try to give a critter a good life while we have it (and not allow a critter who has decided to not eat to be force fed just because it is adorable). Dr. Porter is pretty good at presenting options and allowing "the patient" to decide. My only "complaint" is that she doesn't have Saturday hours.

All of the staff are great, except the actual vet. She is strangely eager to euthanize animals; I brought an animal in and she started the whole 'We should think of what's best for the animal...' line before even KNOWING what was wrong, when the pet has a perfectly fine quality of life. The prices are too high, and they make no bones about the fact that money is their first concern, then comes the pet. I started going here because it's only 5 minutes away, which is important in an emergency situation.. but it's time to find a new vet.

I called to find out if they treated my species of pet, which they didn't, but they were very helpful, referring me to someone who did and giving me the name, phone number and address of the vet who did.

I would highly reccomend this place to anyone looking for a vet. The staff is all very friendly. The veterinarian was very knowledgeable with a strait forward attitude. It wasn't sugar coated for me like other vets have done in the past. I appreciated the honest. The doctor obviously cares very much for the animals. I also used their groomers who did a great job on my schnauzer. If your looking for one place to get all your needs happily satisfied I would reccomend this office.
