Built in 1877 by prominent pioneer businessman Hoyt Sherman, the elegant family home is graced with marble fireplaces, parquet floors and a carved mahogany entryway. Also there is an impressive and elegant art gallery as well as grand and historic theater. Since 1923, the 1,250-seat theater has hosted an array of national and local performing arts talents. Hoyt Sherman Place is known for excellent acoustics and a unique historic interior. The theater is available for public and private performances and for corporate meetings.
