For six years since moving to the Valley of the Sun, my wife and I have been seeking an Italian Restaurant, preferably Northern Italian, specifically a homey atmosphere, neighborhood traditional, genuinely authentic, moderately rustic, superbly tasty and an intimately comforting ristorante that can match and evoke some of the best we’ve experienced in our gastronomic lifetime experiences! I’ve gotta say, no doubt, we found it in Adela’s Italian Kitchen! Hooray! We were flabbergasted on various levels to what we found. First and foremost, the cuisine is extraordinary! Pedro and Adela really take pride in their amazing offerings. Since having our fave Italian in Alexandria, VA (see my review of Via Venetto) – we have not found anything coming close to exquisite Italian food in the Valley until now, especially Piedmontese, or Northern Italian! Our visit started with glasses of a smooth and wonderful Bellini Prosecco and Querceto Chianti. The garlic and oil infused house bread was delightful. Our appetizer of one of the best Fried Calamari ever; very tender and mildly crispy superbly seasoned breading along with an outstanding arrabbiata sauce (arrabbiata means "angry"; the name of the sauce refers to the spiciness of the chili peppers). Our mains consisted of my wife’s Pollo Marconi: a thick, juicy and tasty breast of chicken which is layered with sliced mushrooms, excellently cooked eggplant, cheese, ham covered in a smooth tomato marsala cream sauce. I had one of the fave dishes, and best ever renditions of Vitello alla Sorrentino: a Veal coated with chopped olives, diced mushrooms, bacon morsels and topped with mozzarella cheese in an delectable marsala wine sauce. I was interested in getting the Tiramisu, but considering how full and satisfied we were, I agreed with my wife in ordering their Limoncello Mascarpone Cake – although not a fan of Limoncello, this cake filled with limoncello mascarpone cream was astonishingly magnificent! After enjoying these wonderful victuals, I ended the evening Adela’s Caffe: a double espresso, with steamed milk, Bailey’s Irish Cream and Frangelico an Italian hazelnut liqueur. Wow! Second, and astoundingly amazing, the Chef having over 30 years of Italian cooking experience Pedro, with his wife Ximena and daughter (the Delgado’s) having started Adela’s in 2014 are Mexican. Needless-to-say it is like hitting the Italian Cuisine Jackpot enjoying their hospitality, friendliness, affordable prices, cooking, and ambience. Here the best of what Itâglia has to offer in cuisine. The Delgado’s have made their dream of having a great restaurant come true but have also given the Italian gastronome a share of their extraordinary cooking genius. This is by far one of the most highly recommended meal establishments in the Valley of the Sun we can make. Adela’s, we have become new regulars to your home. Grandi avventure! Bon appétit Ya’ll!
