I brought my Australian Shepherd here for a week while I was on vacation, and she got fleas. I paid to have her groomed on the day that I picked her up, and they specifically notes in her grooming report card that her coat was in great quality and that she did not have fleas. However, the next day I noticed that she was itching a lot and when I looked closer she was COVERED in fleas and flea waste. She has never had fleas before, and I groomed her before taking her here as well. They obviously did not do a good job grooming her if they missed this. The post-boarding grooming fee alone was $50- money totally wasted. DO NOT take your pet here.

If I told my best friend about this place, I'd say: "try another grooming shop". We had our two Goldens groomed there about six or seven weeks ago. The job was just OK. We took them in again this past week and explained how we would like to have them groomed, as we had also described on the previous occasion: no straight line scissor cuts...blend the cuts, just barely trim their leg "feathers", clean a "poop path", "clean and neat" ears and a clean trim on the feet. Well, as my wife commented, they looked as though they had a battle with a weed eater and lost. "Feathers" chopped, straight line scissor cuts on their bodies and "feathers" as well as having their "feathers" too shortened. A "poop path" was there but only because their whole rear ends were trimmed really short. Hardly any trimming around their ears and not enough trimmed on the ears to describe them as "neat and clean". Feet ok. Price was competitive with other shops that also provide a less than good job. My wife said one star and I said two stars. I feel the expertise to groom large, long haired dogs is not available at this grooming shop.

Academy Kennel was a tremendous disappointment. We had our dog boarded there over Christmas and she came back with a wart virus that showed up a few days after we picked her up. This is a virus that dogs can pass to other dogs - however they advertise that all of the dogs are kept separated and have their own free run areas. I called and spoke with the owner to let them know they have this virus in their kennel and she was extremely rude and defensive. She interrupted me saying she didn't know what I was talking about and when I suggested that perhaps my dogs area wasn't properly cleaned she ranted about how that's just not possible. I called out of a courtesy to let them know they need to be aware and watch out and I got chewed out with no apology aside from "I'm sorry you and your vet think that she got it here." I know for a fact that she got it there because she is otherwise confined to our house and our yard! This place is terrible and the owner needs a reality check. I will never send my dog here again and I suggest that you send your animals elsewhere too.

We boarded our puppy (Sir Bruce) for the first time over the 4th holiday and was expecting him to be sick and so on. When we arrived they knew exactly who we were and went to get him. He was cleaned as he was not used to kennel life I am afraid to say so I know he was quite messy. He didn't have any ill effects as we were warned by another kennel he could have such as diarrhea and vomiting and coughing. He was just as we dropped him off. PERFECT. We will use them over and over. They are a great staff.

I would never recommend this place! Not only are the employees rude but your pet is not getting the care they deserve. Please if your pet is on medications, don't trust these people to pay enough attention to give the right meds to the right dog. "Overbooking" is a problem here as well. Your dog that started off in the large run will end up in the smallest to make more room. Beware, as a responsible pet owner don't go here.
